Water Drawing Festival in Japan is held on April 12th and 13th every year. Here you will find Buddhist monks gather water from the Wakasa Well, legend states that water springs from the well only once a year and the monks offer the water first to the Bodhisattva Kannon and the offer the water to the people in the form of fire and ash. The water from the well is believed to cure illnesses.
Contraband Days Pirate festival in Louisiana USA is held on the first two weekends in May in Lake Charles. The festival draws about 100,000 landlubbers attiring wooden legs and eye patches! Here you will also find Cajun Southern cook-offs, concerts, fun events and belly dancing. The pirates festival was founded in the 1950’s however it is based on Jean Lafitte and his buccaneers who ran to Lake Charles to escape from being captured. Legend says he is buried here with his last hoist of treasure.
Headless Chicken Days in Fruita, Colorado USA is an annual two day celebration that commemorates a freak chicken-slaughtering incident in 1945 where a local farmer went out to kill a chicken for his mother-in-law, whom was visiting. When he went to chop off the chickens head he wanted to leave part of the neck because that was her favorite part; he didn’t cut enough. The chicken only had the ability to scratch, cluck, and groom itself. This chicken lived like this for 18 months. At this festival you will find various fun activities!
