COMMENTARY | Mitt Romney has chosen Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as his running mate in the presidential race, Saturday. Already, the “throwing granny of the cliff” rhetoric is spewing from the Democrats.
Democrat National Committee (DNC) Chairman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz came out throwing haymakers Sunday, most of which are nothing more than unsubstantiated rhetoric.
The Miami Herald reports Schultz as claiming Ryan lays “the groundwork in Congress for Mitt Romney’s budget-busting scheme.” In plain common-sense English, this means the Romney/Ryan ticket would maintain current government intake of taxpayer’s money by not allowing the Obama tax hike to take place.
Not only do Obama and the Democrats wish to raise taxes from the current levels, but the implementation of Obamacare, the 2,409-page bureaucratic intrusion on individual liberty, would constitute one of the largest tax increases in American history, as the Supreme Court ruled that the punishment for not buying medical insurance was a tax, as is, semantically, government compulsion to spend your money against your wishes.
Democrats claimed in 2011 that Paul Ryan’s budget, which included Medicare reform, was equivalent to “throwing Grandma off a cliff,” and left-wing commentators such as Ed Schultz, as shown by News Busters, were falling over themselves to promote this disgusting exaggeration.
Most seniors are more intelligent than to fall for this, one would hope, and anyone paying attention can see that taking $464 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare would be ruinous for Medicare.
Obama and the left speaking of closing the “doughnut hole” are working towards bankrupting the system.
This is nothing more than a distraction, akin to a man dropping a dollar, then stealing your wallet when you bend over to pick it up. Initially you are happy to have found the dollar, but by the time you realize your wallet is gone, it’s too late to do anything about it.
Once the system collapses, it is near impossible to revive, so the premise that Republicans will destroy Medicare and Democrats will save it is blatantly false.
Unfortunately, the “throwing grandma off the cliff” propaganda is not the lowest point in Democrat attacks.
One recent despicable ad insinuates that Romney killed a steelworker’s wife. The ad claims the man’s wife died of cancer because Romney shut down his employer. As The Blaze shows, Romney was no longer with Bain Capital when GST Steel was shut down, and hadn’t been for two years. He was gone seven years before the wife died and she had medical insurance. The claims have proved to be completely false and baseless, yet is still running.
Another overtly racist ad shows Florida conservative Republican Allen West, a black guy, punching white women and robbing families. West advised supporters via email, Thursday, that “The ad… plays on stereotypes and fear to divide Americans, and it cheapens the very real and tragic occurrences of violence against women and seniors,” Politico reports.
West asked where the outrage is that would be front and center if a black Democrat was portrayed in the same manner.
