Collecting Playmobil can be a fun thing but it can be expensive, especially when you start investing in the seasonal and limited edition sets. Some of my favorite seasonal items in the Playmobil line are the Halloween sets. Not only are they something that looks great within a scene but you can use them for decorations and if you are lucky enough to come across them new, they do make for great gifts. The ones packaged in the orange pumpkin can be a little hard to find in retails stores but if you are a Playmobil fanatic you’ll know that it’s worth the effort to find them. The prices on these are going to vary so buying the first one you come across online isn’t advised; anything more than ten or fifteen dollars should be passed on. They are rare but they aren’t that rare.
Playmobil Halloween Collectible Vampire – Set Number: 4772
Packaged in a reusable orange plastic pumpkin, this dashing vampire is sure to make any Playmobil lover smile. It has been released several times over the years and can often be found in the Seasonal or Halloween section of the Playmobil Online Store. Like the other sets in this mini series the vampire figure was sold as an individual item as well as in the pumpkin pack. It comes in a cardboard box to prevent tampering but it is rare to come across this in a retail store unless they carry other specialty Playmobil items. The suggested retail price for this is in the six dollar range and while that might sound like a lot for it, it is less expensive than trying to find the individual figure.
Playmobil Halloween Collectible Ghost – Set Number: 4771
Playmobil has made a lot of different ghosts over the years but this one is special. Well, actually it is the regular ghost but it comes packaged inside an orange plastic pumpkin. One of the nicer points of this seasonal guest is the black sheet that covers him. These were originally created to be a series of trick-or-treaters but Playmobil decided to axe the line with only four different sets. That is a real shame because they could have done a lot of different things with the regular figures; they could have taken almost any Playmobil character and put them in a Halloween costume and packaged them for this series. With an average selling price of about six dollars it is a little more expensive than buying the ghost individually but you do get a very cool orange keep case.
Playmobil Halloween Collectible Mummy – Set Number: 4773
Just like the Ghost, there have been more than a few different mummy figures released by Playmobil. This one has your basic skeleton with a coffin; that doesn’t sound all that impressive but when you have him on display for Halloween you are sure to get a lot of comments about it. It makes for a great companion piece to the other pumpkin packs but it can be one of the harder-to-find pieces in the series. If you only want the mummy you can still get it as a Special or Pals set but they are hard to find in retail stores unless they carry a lot of older or seasonal sets. The mummy does have a lot of replay value and can be added to Castle, haunted house or Egyptian scenes; if you are a regular shopper at the Playmobil Online Store then you may have seen this in their Halloween section when it is stocked. A nice gift for any Halloween fanatic or Playmobil lover!
Playmobil Halloween Trick-Or-Treaters – Set Number: 4770
Any Playmobil lover or collector would kill to have this in their collection. Not only are the two figures well done and dressed for Halloween but there are two sizes in the set. The set contains a devil with pitchfork and a child in a tiger costume; this is often mistaken for or misrepresented as the Tiger & Dragon set (Playmobil 3026). While that set is a Halloween themed set it is not packaged in the plastic pumpkin and is not part of this series. The average selling price for this is a few dollars more than the others because of the two figures and the high demand for it during the Halloween season. It is one of my favorite seasonal items from Playmobil and every Halloween I hit the Playmobil Online Store to try and grab a few extras before they sell out of them.
There are other Pals and Special figures and characters in the Magic theme that you can easily convert to make them a little spookier. Likewise if you pick up one of the Playmobil Castles used and there are some missing pieces you can always convert it to a haunted house. Over the years I have purchased a ton of these and given some of them as gifts to my Playmobil loving friends. They are something that combines two of my favorite things, Playmobil and Halloween.
