COMMENTARY | President Obama so far in 2012 has made one mistake after another. You would think with all the resources at his disposal, he would have people in place to prevent some of them. Granted, Obama has a tough job, one that will always have a certain percentage of the population upset and in disagreement with his positions and policies.
After almost four years in the office, President Obama still comes off as lost in his own arrogance. 2012 has been filled with the opportunity after opportunity for the opposition to attack him, his policies, his actions and most of all his words.
If the Republicans were not so busy destroying each other and their own party, Obama is giving them plenty of things to use against him and the Democratic party in the next elections. The only explanation to the actions of Obama and those positioned around him that I can see is arrogance.
So far this year, Obama has waded into areas where he should have left well enough alone. He stroked the flames of racism with his comments concerning Trayvon Martin being like his son. Many young black Americans have committed violent crimes, are they also like his son would be? The President should have learned from the Beer Summit to keep his mouth shut about local law enforcement issues.
His comments this past week, were historic to a shaming level, when Obama used the media to speak to the justices of the Supreme Court concerning his healthcare legislation. Obviously a move of desperation that made him look small and like a bully.
The President’s recent gaffe, whispering to the President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev, was another demonstration of arrogance. How many times will it take the President to realize there is always a microphone around? Is this another time where arrogance overrode intelligence?
Friday’s justification of the lavish party by the GSA in Las Vegas by the President using former administrations to justify wasteful spending, was like a child saying, ” George hit me first.” Sometimes, I wonder aloud, did he really just say that?
The worst of all of it for me, the President’s manipulation of people to get what he wants, and people thinking it is OK. On Thursday Obama talked about how Augusta Country Club should have women members, and pandering to the women voters of this country. Friday, Obama said publicly, “Women are not an interest group.” Then Obama, pimps his co-chair of his re-election campaign, Eva Longoria, out to donors who will donate $3 to his re-election campaign. Where is the outrage from women’s groups concerning that?
President Obama needs someone around him that will point these things out. Obviously he does not have that person in place at this time. He comes across as arrogant and divisive, pitting group after group on different sides of issues. The Republicans are in such disarray, even when the President makes mistakes like this, no one takes notice, or if they do, we won’t know it until November.
