What are my favorite things about Thanksgiving? There are several, especially this year. Of course there is the turkey, stuffing, pie, family…all that is great, but Thanksgiving football is my favorite part of the holiday. This year, watching Tony Romo choke in a big game as usual was the best part.
Why do I despise Romo? Why am I being so hard on him? For one, I am a 49ers fan and there will always be some aggression toward the Cowboys and anyone that plays QB for them on principle alone. More to the point, I, like many other people still enjoy watching a good game and the amazing professionals that make it happen for us season after season. I wanted to see Romo do well as a football fan, though the Cowboys are not my team.
However, like many other fans, we have watched his bi-polar style of play for years, always having to hear about how this is the season that Dallas and Romo are going to make their Super Bowl run. Well, I am tired of hearing it and I am tired of him. Furthermore, I am tired of seeing the defeated and sometimes uninterested look on his face while he is picking himself up off the ground or walking to the sideline. Either play the game with passion, honor the game and your position, or do us all a favor and retire.
America’s team they say. Give me a break! As me and the rest of the country watch Dallas and Jerry Jones slowly turn into the Raiders and Al Davis 2.0, maybe Tony Romo is what Jones deserves? How anyone on the team can be blamed for the massively expensive and talented failure that is the Dallas Cowboys besides Jerry Jones and Tony Romo is beyond me. T.O. is not there for you to blame anymore. It has been years since he left. Speaking of the past, so you bumbled a snap in playoffs once upon a time! Get over it, Romo.
This article is supposed to be about my favorite sports moment of 2012 and it is. Maybe some will find it mean that I take pleasure in the failure of another man, but guess what? I don’t care. I have never said anything about Tony Romo in an article before, and that is because I have been waiting like everyone else for him to be the quarterback everyone keeps saying he is. The only role he plays is spoiler every once in a while late in the season by beating a better team on a fluke.
The fact that RG3, a first year kid came out and showed you how the game is played was the true highlight of my Thanksgiving, but then Romo had to go and decide to play in the 4th quarter as usual. There must not have been a blonde in the stands distracting him for that part of the game.
I could put up 350 yards a game in the NFL, too, if I threw the ball 70 times a game. Too bad half of Romo’s passes are caught by the other team. Hang it up, pal.
