With the economy like it is, being able to afford beautiful jewelry. All of my friends and co-workers go to these jewelry parties where each necklace or bracelet costs upwards of fifty dollars. Yes, I love their beautiful jewelry; I just can’t afford to buy the jewelry at those prices. So, I do the next best thing. I make recycled bracelets. Thankfully, I have a teen daughter who teaches me how to do make just about any type of jewelry.
Jewelry Tip: Don’t worry if you can’t afford expensive jewelry. Make your own. If you have pieces you don’t wear any more, get ready to turn them into beautiful masterpieces! Or, head to the dollar store and buy some jewelry that is cheap. Once you come home, you can turn them into up-cycled bracelets and necklaces that will amaze your friends.
What You Need for the Up-Cycled Bracelet:
Leather Belt
Snaps
Knife or Scissors,
Rivet Kit (included with snaps)
Up-Cycled Bracelet Directions:
For the base of your bracelet or necklace, you need the leather belt. If you don’t have one, head to Goodwill. You can find them under a $1. Before you start cutting on the belt, make sure the design lines up well. You will want to do this before you cut into the belt.
Use your snaps and rivet kit to prepare the ends of the bracelet or necklace. Apply them to the ends of your bracelet. You can also head to the store and pick up these. There are many different designs to choose from. Pick one you love. If you want your leather belt shorter, just use knife or scissors to cut. Make any shape you like. The beauty of this recycled project is you can use whatever you have. If you have old jewelry you aren’t using, this is perfect for this DIY project.
If you are using old necklaces, cut the string and use the beads for your bracelet. Just make sure they will fit through the leather belt. Use soda pull tabs to decorate your bracelet. Find beads, string, or charms around the house. Your bracelet is what you make of it.
If you have old jewelry, use scissors to cut the string. Now, you have new beads than can be used for new bracelets or necklaces. The point is that you can create beautiful diy jewelry by simply walking around the house and seeing what you have.
