Building a trusting and loving relationship is always a work in progress for any couple. And while there are plenty of tips to give for relationship advice, I have found there to be one important thing that women should let men do in a relationship. And don’t forget, this really goes both ways, for men and women.
Let your Man make his Own Mistakes
Plain and simple, this is a key ingredient to anything in life. Whether it is a child, parent, sibling, or significant other, we all know that the best way to learn anything, usually comes from doing it wrong ourselves. So the next time you disagree with something your man wants to do, do not immediately feel like you have to try and save him from making a mistake or doing something wrong.
Do not try to persuade a man into doing what you think he should do. Tell him your viewpoint and why you feel the way you do, but always let a man decide for himself the decision he wants to make, and then let him sink or swim on his own.
However when he does make his own decision, you need to make sure that you congratulate him if his decision works, and tell him how he proved you wrong and you are proud of him for trying what you had doubts about. This will portray your humility in a selfless way, while also making him more confident in himself. And we all know that a person who is confident in themselves, makes for a great friend, companion, and lover in any relationship.
And conversely, if his decision does not work how he anticipated, then make sure that you never say anything about how you were right. There will be no doubt that he already knows you were right, and so there is absolutely no need to remind him. The best part about this, is that if he was wrong, and you let him try it anyway and he failed, and you did not brag about you being right, then the next time you disagree on a decision or choice, he will be much more inclined to listen to your idea/suggestion/opinion. This can result in a win-win situation for you. Being that if he was right, well then he is a happy camper and you can be happy for him, and if you were right, then you got your point across and he will probably listen to you more next time.
All in all, when you add it up, you really cannot go wrong when you let your man make his own mistakes. Just never tell him you were right and add the dreaded comment that no one ever wants to hear…. “I told you.” We already know was wrong. Now just let it be, and both of you will be happy.
