The Marriott at Centerpoint (in Pontiac) is an upscale hotel convenient to many Southeastern cities including Auburn Hills, Troy, Rochester and Bloomfield Hills. It is also a short drive to downtown Detroit, and the northern city of Flint, making it a good choice for either business or leisure travel.
Amenities
Although it is in a medium-sized city, the Marriott Pontiac provides all of the luxuries and amenities offered at a four star hotel in a metropolitan city. Some of these benefits include:
- Concierge and Room Service
- City Views on Upper Floors
- Coffee/Tea in Room
- Complimentary Soaps and Lotions
- Indoor Pool and Spa
- Outdoor Pool and Seating Area
- Fitness Room
- Gift Shop
- Easy Access to the Interstate
- Evening Entertainment
- Fireplace and Flat Screen Televisions in the Lobby
Decor and Guest Rooms
The decor of the hotel is extremely beautiful. There are chandeliers, marble floors and a baby grand piano in the lobby area. Each room is decorated with dark cherry wood furnishings and the signature Marriott bedding. Guests can also enjoy lots of plush pillows and a flat screen television (though there were not a lot of channels to choose from). Families or multiple travelers may choose to stay in a suite; however, the standard guest room is very spacious. More importantly, this is a very clean and well maintained facility.
On-Site Dining
Hotel guests can dine at the Parkway Grille located on the main floor of the hotel. In addition to an array of appetizers and other bar style foods, one can get a hardy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant. Some of their specialties include fish tacos, steaks and burgers; and being a full bar, a variety of beers, wines and specialty drinks (like martinis) are also on the menu. Adjacent to the Parkway Grille is the infamous Starbucks Coffee where one can get their morning brew.
Location
The Centerpoint area is home to other hotels as well as numerous restaurants. There is a Zoup (soup cafe), Italian restaurant, coney dog and sushi bar within walking distance. This area is also appealing as it is about a ten minute drive from the Palace of Auburn Hills, Oakland University and the Great Lakes Crossings Outlet Mall.
As with any hotel, there are a some drawbacks. First, internet speeds within the building are very slow. Even worse, complimentary wi-fi is only available in the lobby. Lastly, during the time of this review, the spa was not in operation.
