Review: WWE Brawlin’ Buddies the Perfect Toy for WWE Fans

by pop tug

Forget Pillow Pets, Happy Nappers or Dream Lites. Mattel’s WWE Brawlin’ Buddies are the ultimate sleep and play companion. The first series in the 16-inch plush line includes four WWE Superstars and is available at multiple retailers including Toys R’ Us and Target. Anyone who grew up using the old WWE Wrestling Buddies will love purchasing the revamped and updated toys for their children now.

Design

WWE Brawlin’ Buddies are designed to feature detailed caricatures of WWE Superstars. The John Cena Brawlin’ Buddy includes multiple wristbands, his trademark camo shorts and sneakers. Protruding ears on the toy’s head is nice touch that makes them feel more realistic.

WWE Superstars

The first set of WWE Brawlin’ Buddies feature four elite WWE stars. Along with Cena, kids can get their hands on Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus.

It’s a nice line-up and the Mysterio buddy really stands out from the rest because of his bright green design and mask. The tattoos on Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio help make them more recognizable, much like their detailed WWE action figure counterparts.

Sound Effects

Sound effects can get really annoying on a toy, but they work well for the WWE Brawlin’ Buddies. The sensor and random order of the sound effects makes each playing experience unique.

For example, when a child performs a move on the John Cena Brawlin’ Buddy, he’ll groan and then make another sound effect when making contact with a bed, couch or other object. The fighting noises are complimented with catchphrases like “You want some, come get some” and “You Can’t See Me.”

Durability

In one hour’s play, a seven year old boy managed to throw a John Cena Brawlin’ Buddy off the bed, into a wall, perform multiple moves and even take it on the trampoline. So far, no sign of wear and John Cena apparently wants more of the fighting action.

The child loves the toy more than other stuffed animals. It’s a great companion for “Monday Night Raw,” “Friday Night Smackdown” and bedtime.

Future Editions

The potential for future WWE Brawlin’ Buddies is large. The first series could have been even better if a CM Punk buddy was in place of Randy Orton. Other colorful WWE characters like The Undertaker, Kane, Zack Ryder, Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara and Brodus Clay would make great additions to the series.

WWE Brawlin’ Buddies retail for $29.99 and are recommended for ages 3+.
