Rick Ross, the self proclaimed “Boss” of urban entertainment, chose Dallas as one of the many stops for his album release tour. According to Billboard, the album “God Forgives, I Don’t” is Rick Ross’ fourth number 1 album on the Billboard 200 as it reached 218,000 sold in its first week.
Upon arrival at Zouk nightclub where the event was held, it was evident that this was going to be one of those nights that Dallas’ elite would be seen. The trucks for both urban radio stations, K104 and 97.9 The Beat, were outside of the club and the searchlight was in full affect drawing attention to the hottest event in the city. The parking lot filled early with beautiful women and you know when you see the Maybach’s pulling into the parking lot, it’s going to be one of those nights.
I was a little disappointed with the guys who decided to come to the club in shorts and t shirts. I felt like this was one of the premier events in the city with one of the biggest artist in the country and it should have been treated as such. But I guess this was an open to the public event and if you paid $2500 for a table you should be able to come to the club anyway you like.
The ladies showed up and showed out, well at least most of them. I love to see the beautiful women of Dallas when they put their A game on. The twitter hash tag #shoegame patrol was in full affect as some of Dallas’ most beautiful women brought out the A list of designer apparel and shoes.
I really like club Zouk. I think it has the perfect ambience for star studded events like this one. The club owner or designer really went all out to capture the essence of the old Starck club, which was the title of the club when Dennis Rodman owned it about 15 or so years ago, while upgrading to the blinged out lights and TV screens necessary to fulfill the appetites of today’s socialites.
Around 11:30pm the flares of bottle service filled the air and didn’t stop for the remainder of the night but I noticed people starting to get a little on edge around 12:30 when the man of the hour was still not in the building. I was told that we could blame that on local radio station K104 who had the artist next door for a private meet and greet that ran over a little longer than expected but those claims were not verified.
At 1:00 AM Rick Ross entered the building and you could feel the atmosphere of the club shift into overdrive. Rick Ross got on the microphone to host and perform songs from his new number 1 album and if for any reason you were not already having a good time you could not help but to be gripped to his every word.
As usual I asked 10 people to rate the event and the average response was 4 out of 5 stars. I have to agree Tamlon Hamilton, Christopher Tann, Greg James, Christopher Blue and Kwasi Wiafe did an incredible job bringing this premier event to the city.
