As I type this article there are two empty box-type cigarette packs sitting on the table that I type on. One of the packs is a Fortuna full flavor 100s box and the other is a Sonoma 100s full flavor box. Both brands of cigarettes are made by Commonwealth Brands, Inc.
For almost two years now the maximum number of cigarettes I have smoked in one day is five and I am vigilant about sticking to that number. Normally I smoke one Marlboro full flavor 100s cigarette two hours after I wake up then smoke four Sonoma’s throughout the remaining hours of the day and night.
Approximately a month ago I went to purchase a pack of Sonoma full flavor 100s at a Hartford, Connecticut gas station but the store was sold out of that variety. The clerk at the store suggested that I try a pack of Fortuna 100s instead. He said that the Fortuna 100s were similar to Sonoma 100s and they were roughly the same price.
The clerk was convincing. I did purchase a pack of Fortuna full flavor 100s that day. Seeing the two empty packs on the table made me realize that these two brands of cigarettes would be interesting products to compare.
Presented here in an effort to assist the consumer is an article which compares and examines Sonoma Red full flavor 100s and Fortuna full flavor 100s cigarettes.
On a regular basis I cut half of the filter off of Sonoma Red 100s before I smoke them, which increases the strength of every drag.
After smoking one Fortuna full flavor 100 with the filter intact, I decided to cut half of the filters off of the remaining cigarettes. With half of the filter cut off I think that the Fortuna cigarettes are a little bit stronger than the Sonoma Red 100s.
Fortuna full flavor 100s and Sonoma full flavor 100s are identical in size. Each cigarette measures almost four inches in length.
Each of these brands of cigarettes is usually priced approximately $1 less than major brands such as Marlboro and Newport.
Although I smoke Sonoma Red full flavor 100s regularly I have found it to be fairly difficult to find stores where they are stocked. Right now, I know of four stores or gas stations nearby that stock Sonomas. It seems to me that if more people were aware of and tried Sonomas that more stores would stock them.
As far as I know, Fortunas are a newer brand of cigarette and I have seen them at several gas stations and stores recently.
One of the main reasons why I enjoy smoking Sonoma Red full flavor 100s is their excellent flavor. To me, their flavor is crisp and not at all harsh or hot-burning.
The Fortuna full flavor 100s cigarettes not only taste stronger than the Sonomas to me but they also taste harsher and hotter-burning. If I encountered another situation where I could not get Sonomas I would purchase Fortunas again.
Sonoma Red full flavor 100s are packaged in a deep red box that shows an illustration of a mountain range in black on the bottom front. Fortuna full flavor 100s cigarettes are packaged in a white and red box with the word Fortuna printed vertically.
There are plenty of generic and discount-priced brands of cigarettes available today. After trying many of them through the years the only one that I really truly enjoy smokiing is Sonoma Red full flavor 100s.
Fortuna full flavor 100s cigarettes are one of the better-tasting discount-priced cigarette brands I have tried. Overall however, they are a little harsh for my taste and I much prefer the Sonoma Red full flavor 100s.
If you’re a full flavor, non-menthol smoker you can save some money by smoking either of these brands and they really aren’t bad.
Personal experience with both brands of cigarettes
