Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy are getting extremely serious extremely fast – the couple was recently spotted visiting the Cape Cod gravesite of Conor’s mother Mary Kennedy, who committed suicide by hanging herself back in May.
Some might see this young couple’s “date” as being a bit morbid, but it’s actually evidence of how important Taylor already is to Conor – he probably wouldn’t share such an emotional moment with someone if he didn’t have deep feelings for them.
Oddly enough, Taylor isn’t the only celeb who has recently gone on a somber cemetery date. Last month former “That ’70s Show” costars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis tried to claim that their relationship wasn’t serious, but they seemed to be very much coupled up when they met up with Mila’s family at a cemetery in Los Angeles. They were reportedly there to visit the grave of Mila’s grandmother on the anniversary of her death. It’s hard to imagine Mila and Ashton feeling comfortable sharing such a meaningful moment if they’re just “friends with benefits.”
Unfortunately visiting the gravesite of a loved one with a significant other isn’t always a sign of a strong relationship. Kim Kardashian tried to connect to Kris Humphries on a deeper level by taking the NBA player with her to visit her father’s grave before their wedding. At the time she was probably wishing that Robert Kardashian was alive to walk her down the aisle, but now she’s probably happy that her dad didn’t see her marriage turn out to be a complete disaster – at least she has admitted to being relieved that her father wasn’t around to see her sex tape get released. It’s rather sad that the mistakes she has made are so bad that they’ve made her glad that her dad is dead.
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling went on a different kind of cemetery date – instead of visiting the gravesite of a loved one, they took a romantic stroll through the legendary Pere-Lachaise cemetery while touring Paris last November. Legends like The Doors frontman Jim Morrison, poet Oscar Wilde, and singer Edith Piaf are all buried there. In France even final resting places seem more romantic.
So what do you think of celebrity couples visiting cemeteries together – is it sweet or strange?
