Introducing my daughter, Tylina Havle. I have the privilege of helping her write her first book, a book she has titled, Hold on God, Life is Calling Through.
It’s not always easy being a teen and that is why Tylina Havle has been encouraged to write a teen devotional. Tylina has a heart for teens and a message for them.Tylina understands the confusion, the stress and peer pressure that teens often endure.
It wasn’t too long ago that she was a teen herself. She admits that as a teen she felt that her parent’s values and rules were pointless, nothing her parents said seemed to make sense, however over the years Christ has made a powerful impact in her life and she sees things from a different perspective.
In junior high school, Tylina was active in sports, modeling, drama and music. She was a talented child with a rebellious spirit. In her pre-teen years she exploded and began questioning everything her parents said and did.
She began to challenge the rules and values that she’d been taught and eventually she quit listening to them altogether. She had hung up on her parents, refusing to honor their rules, she placed God on hold and devoured everything the world had to offer.
She had become a prodigal child. It would take fifteen years before she would see the light, but now she has a wonderful relationship with her parents.
Married with six children of their own, Tylina and her husband William, are actively involved in their church. They attend Believers Church in Sylvania, Georgia. Tylina has been inspired to use her own life experiences to share with today’s teens the lessons that Christ shared with her over the years.
She addresses issues such as purity, perseverance, loyalty, and forgiveness with a non-judgmental approach. Her goal is to speak into the lives of teenagers, to encourage parents and to spark a dialogue.
Christianity is based on some sound principals that actually make a lot of sense. So, if you are a teen, about to be a teen or have a teen in your home, this is a devotional for you.
Tylina challenges teens to journal their questions, concerns and thoughts under each section in this book. She believes that it is Christ’s desire to have a relationship with us and she says that Christ is open to hearing our thoughts and best of all He does want what is best for us.
Her devotional, Hold on God, Life is Calling Through, will make its debut this spring. In the meantime, Tylina says, she enjoys speaking to teens and has a real compassion for both teens and their parents.
Tylina has a message for parents, “If your teen has hung up on you and put God on hold, don’t be discouraged, Christ has their number and His GPS is extremely accurate. Christ has a way of reaching them 24/7. Your prayers for your children do not fall upon deaf ears, do not give up, where there is prayer there is hope.”
Watch for her devotional to come out this Spring, I will keep you updated. In the meantime, Tylina encourages those who’d like to become a teen mentor to get a hold of their local church or school and ask how they too can become a teen mentor in their area.
Teen Mentors can make all the difference.
