Every year I get a sinus infection in the fall. This has been going on for quite some time now. It is like a cycle. I almost know when to expect it.
I have tried so many natural procedures to avoid taking an antibiotic, but unfortunately to my dismay, they have not worked. Therefore, I end up having to usually get on a 7 -10 day antibiotic. Ultimately, it takes away the infection and I do not get those sick feelings anymore. I am still very congested though well into the spring. Then, it totally disappears by the summer.
I use a nasal wash bottle each night before bed during the sinus season. That has worked well. It clears your sinuses and helps you to breathe better so you can sleep. By morning though, I am congested all over again. I came to the conclusion that as good as this seems, it is just an easy, quick fix. Again, it does not let me avoid my sinuses getting infected, no matter how often I use it. I continue to use it, because I need to sleep at night and I cannot when I am too congested.
I basically gave up on this. I just figured that I am going to just get this every year and I just have to deal with it. Just recently I found out that I had a uterine fibroid condition. As I was doing research on the topic, I found out that dairy is the worst thing to ingest because it feeds on the fibroids and makes them grow. I started drinking Almond and rice milk and I am avoiding yogurt as much as I love it. This is necessary because if they get too large, then I will need surgery.
Once the fall came around, I started getting somewhat congested but I noticed that it has not been as bad as the past. There are certain nights in which I do not even need to use the nasal spray bottle which is very unusual. In the past, I have needed to use it every night from the fall until late spring. It finally dawned on me that by avoiding milk, I am so much less congested. Over the years growing up, I had also heard that milk produces mucus. Doctors used to tell my mother to not give it to us when we were sick. For some reason, I just did not think that it would help. I figured it was something in the air because every time I went out in the cold, it seemed to get worse.
I am not happy that I have a fibroid condition, but if it were not for that, I would have never switched over to a milk substitute. I am glad that I have avoided a sinus infection. First of all, it makes you feel very sick and then I do not like the idea of taking an antibiotic.
I believe now that I have found the real cure of a sinus infection and it does seem to be avoiding dairy. If you are prone to get this like I used to, try staying away from dairy. You may be surprised like I was. This may be the end to your sinus problems.
