Perhaps the most memorable moment in the 2012 football season was dubbed ” The Worst Call In NFL History” , when Russel Wilson throws a 24 yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate to win the game for the Seattle Seahawks.
Clearly it shows there was a lot of pushing and shoving going on down in the end zone. Just about anyone will tell you that there should have been an interference call on that play. This was not the case. What is facinating is that the multitude of fans know and as video evidence will show, that this kind of pushing and shoving goes on all the time in the NFL, and that this is not the only time in NFL history that this has taken place.
Next the very controversial call that the ball was caught by a green bay player in the endzone first. This can be argumentative, because depending on the angle of the camera and the view, thier is a moment and an angle where if played back in slow motion, will reveal that Golden Tate did indeed touch the ball first. Once again this can be argumentative by the millions of fans.
It was ruled that the catch was a tie for possesion by the referees.
Although arguable by some if not most weather it was a tie or not, the rule has always been the tie goes to the receiver.
It is amazing how just about everyone wants the rule to change, when it is their team or the team that they want to win , does not get the desired call that they wish to happen. In this case most fans believe that Green Bay should have gotten the ball.
After sitting down with a fellow friend , we had a lengthy discussion about what if the role had been reversed and it was Green Bay catching the ball in the end zone for a touchdown.
What would have it been like then. We agreed that most likely the sportscasters would have said it was the greatest play in football history. Folks would have went on to say that Aaron Rodgers was the greatest quarterback ever to play football. Most all the fans would have said that it was a good call by the referees, also that the Green Bay Packers are one of the best teams ever.
The mentality of it all is just mind boggling, when you think of it. If it were anyone else other than the Seahawks, more fans may have felt a different way.
The fact is, no one wants to give the Seattle Seahawks there due.
This statistically speaking, going into week 13 of the NFl Season, shows that the Seattle defense has given up less points overall (202). 2nd only to The San Francisco 49rs (171) in both the AFC and the NFC divisions.
Even though they have been known to loose most of thier road trip games, due to the fact that thier defensive co-ordinator can,t get past the point, that the prevent defense he constantly puts them in looses the game for them and does not work.
Everyone knows when the game is on the line you need to put pressure on the QB.
A good fact is that Russel Wilson is one of the top 2012 rookie quarterbacks of the year. I wonder though, If this might come down to a rematch game between the 2 teams to see who goes on to play for the NFC championchip, provided Seattle gets a wildcard birth, or for an unforsseen event , the 49ers have 4 bad games, but I doubt it. More than likely they may win a wildcard birth.
The Seattle Seahawks have one of the top running backs in the nation with Marshawn Lynch, however, They need another high caliber running back in order for them to become the team most fans long for them to be. Perhaps another Adrian Peterson or Arian foster to take some of the pressure off Mr Lynch.
At any rate this controversial call will continue to be a sore subject for most for years to come. Click on the link below to watch the “YOUTUBE Video” .
