Do you enjoy watching tv commercials?
What is your opinion of the infomercials that are trying to sell all of those products and services?
Would you make a purchase after watching a TV commercial or infomercial?
Do you ever think of all of the talented creative people who influence us in making our purchases and decisions?
Whether it is radio, television, print media, online and mobile direct response, advertising is a challenge today to give the public a reason to spend money in a poor economy. They provide important information about new products and health, compare products and services, and sometimes even make people laugh.
The Electronic Retailing Association (ERA), the leading trade association for direct-to-consumer commerce, presented the MOXIE Awards dedicated to honor the best in each category, the men and women who strive for excellence in advertising.
The MOXIE Awards chooses the best under $50K, over $50K, under $250K, and over $250K. It’s known as a who’s who of the wacky ‘but wait there’s more’ industry and the faces you know from your favorite guilty pleasure infomercial.
Advertising is big business and I was thrilled to be invited to attend the MOXIE Awards held at the Wynn Hotel. It was a gala affair with all of the excitement of an Academy Award red carpet event. First everyone enjoyed the cocktail and appetizer party then they entered the banquet room for dinner and the award show. The nominees sat at their tables anxious to know the results.
It is significant to schedule these MOXIE Awards as a beacon for excellence in advertising! I felt that seeing the nominees work brings an awarness of the latest in the field.
Presented by the Electronic Retailing Association, The 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to famed As Seen on TV personality Kevin Harrington, chairman and founder of As Seen on TV, Inc. Kevin is a past panelists of “Shark Tank.” The Direct Response Icon award was presented to Montel Williams.
Perhaps because of my background of 25 years in advertising, I appreciate all of the energy and brain power necessary to please clients. Winning my award from the Greater Las Vegas Advertising Federation for one of my TV commercials and named Programs of the Week for television travel programs was very special.
Wynn’s always offers the finest dining and tonight was no exception. The Caesars Salad was filled with different types of cheese and the wonderfully tender steak was a pleasurable delight!

The ERA hosts networking receptions around the globe and throughout the year to provide direct response marketing industry professionals a convenient place to connect and interact with one another. The events are generally timed to occur during a related industry event. This way, ERA members and non-members have an intimate and convenient place to convene and meet specifically with other multichannel marketers when traveling to and attending a conference.
ERA holds monthly educational webinars to provide the members of the direct response industry with relevant knowledge
