The Rock is by far one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. From having great mic skills, to awesome in ring ability, and that it factor to connect with the crowd. The WWE, after producing three DVDs on back in the early 2000’s on The Rock’s career. They decided to make this one back in 2008. Now they have another one after this which makes it 5 DVDs on the Rock. He deserves it because he was what he said he was “The Great One.” This is a three disc set that runs roughly 8 hours. There is no documentary or commentary from The Rock. It is strictly matches and promos.
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Rocky Maivia on Raw 2/13/97- This was for the Intercontential title. Rocky looked impressive, but Hunter was beating up Rocky almost the whole match. Rocky was able to pull off the upset and won. I give it an 8/10
Owen Hart vs The Rock on Raw 4/6/98- This was for the Intercontential title and it was a good match. The interference from Chyna and DX ruined it for me. I give it a 6/10
Triple H vs The Rock on Raw 6/22/98- A King of the Ring quarterfinal match and it was very good. There was a lot of brawling and technical moves. The Rock won with Mr. Perfect’s finisher. I give it an 8/10
Mankind vs The Rock at Survivor Series 11/15/98- The final round of the tournament for the WWE championship and this one was magic. Both men took it to the limit with a lot of spots outside, and even in the stands. It ended with the Montreal Screwjob finish, which made The Rock more of a bad guy to align himself with Vince. I give it a perfect rating.
Mankind vs The Rock on St Valentines Day Massacre 2/14/99- A last man standing match, were again both men gave it all they had. The Rock even provided commentary and sung Memphis skies during the match. The match ended in a double count out were both legends hit each other with a chair on the head. I give it a perfect rating.
Mankind vs The Rock on Raw 2/15/99- A ladder match for the WWE title since the last match ended in a draw. This was another great match in this overlooked and under appreciated rivalry. Stone Cold Steve Austin provided guest commentary and The Big Show made sure Mankind did not win the match. I give it a perfect rating.
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock at Wrestlemania XV 3/28/99- With the WWE title at stake both men did everything they could to have that title. They brawled inside and outside of the ring. This match to me defines what the Attitude Era was all about. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Triple H on Raw 7/5/99- A steel cage match that had a lot of brawling, some crazy interference from Chyna. The Rock some how against all odds pulled off the victory. I give it a perfect rating.
Rock and Sock Connection vs The Big Show and Undertaker on Raw 8/30/99- The match started with Rock and Sock beating up Big Show for awhile. Then Big Show came back and was beating up Mankind for awhile. Then the Undertaker just left the ring and Big Show. Then the Rock and Sock of Mankind beat Big Show. Then they became tag team champs. I give it an 8/10.
The Rock vs Kane on Smackdown 12/30/99- A no holds barred match that started with some brawling inside. Once they got outside, The Rock threw Kane off of the stage onto the tables below. Then Kane responded by choke slamming the Rock through a table. Then they went into the stands and back into the ring. Tori tried to intervene for Kane but failed and The Rock won. I give it an 8/10
The Rock vs Triple H at Backlash 4/30/00- This was The Rock vs all the McMahon’s. Shane was guest referee while Vince and Stephanie were at Ringside. It was a one sided affair the whole fight until Stone Cold came to the aid of the Rock. The Rock pulled off the victory. The highlight of this match was when The Rock had rock bottomed both Shane and Triple H through the announcers table. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Shane McMahon on Raw 5/1/00- A steel cage for the WWE title. Again the Rock had to face the McMahon’s, Triple H, Pat Patterson, and Gerald Briscoe. The Rock despite all odds pulled off another upset thanks to Earl Hebner. Shane took a beating of a lifetime in this match. I give it an 8/10
The Rock vs Kurt Angle at No Way Out 2/25/01- Not the most technical, but there was a lot of brawling and interference from the Big Show. There were a lot of near falls that made the match exciting. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Booker T at Summerslam 8/19/01- This was for the WCW Heavyweight Title during that awful angle of the Alliance. This was more of a street fight on the outside and into the stands. Once they got back in the ring, they showed how great they can be as wrestlers. The Rock won the title. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Chris Jericho at Royal Rumble 1/20/02- A great technical match between these guys. There was also a lot of interference, and the referee being knocked out which provided an excellent finish. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania X-8 3/17/02- The icon vs icon match were The Rock pulled out Hulk’s best. This is by far one of my favorite matches and gets a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Kurt Angle vs Undertaker at Vengeance 7/21/02- A triple threat match that can be arguably the greatest of all time. All 3 legends never had a dull moment with each other and there were a lot of near falls in this match. I give it a perfect rating.
The Rock vs Eddie Guerrero on Raw 7/28/02- This was a one sided match with Eddie having the upper hand. The Rock made a great comeback. I give it a 7/10
The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania XIX 3/20/03- Just another great match between these two legends. With both using the others finishing maneuvers on each other. The Rock finally beat Austin on the biggest stage. I give it a perfect rating.
Rock’s Promos and One Liners- This gets a perfect rating because The Rock was the best on the microphone.
My only complaints are that there are a lot more promos and interview segments that could have been fitted on the disc. Also there is no documentary or any interview with The Rock reflecting back on his career.
Overall this is an awesome DVD set to have. This DVD really showcased how The Rock was great as a wrestler and as an entertainer. WWE didn’t botch anything and everything was presented and sounded right. These sets since there The Rock are a little more expensive then other DVD sets out there. With the new set out, it might just drop the price of this
