The Spirit of the Spectators Captures the Heart of the Olympian Games!

by pop tug

From commencement to conclusion,
the momentum of the spectators
exemplify the spirit of the Olympic Games!

From the moment of countdown,
the cheers begin;
to the ringing of the bell
the carrying of the torch
the forging of the rings
the lighting of the cauldron
the parade of nations;
the spirit of the spectators is felt!

But, imagine how those events would be,
if there were no onlookers
no spectators to stand in awe
no people to stand knee deep
in the history and tradition
of the Olympian Games.

The Olympian Games is all about
people of different countries,
culture and diversity;
coming together to celebrate
history made,
and in the making;
the accomplishments of their youth
from generation to generation;
it’s a competition held in peace and celebration!

And then,
the excitement of the games begin;
ignited by the fires of tradition!
The athletes go on display,
representing their countries
sporting their strengths
talents and ability
their hard work and efforts
teamwork and potential!

But, imagine
the disappointment the teams would feel
if there were no spectators
to cheer on their performance;
if they could hear no cheers
nor applauds.

If it weren’t for the multitude of spectators
there would be no sound
no noise
to verify human emotion,
rendered in the moments.

There would be no heightened crescendos,
no emotional highs
no lows
no moments of elation
to meet the moments of triumph!

No athlete would be revered
nor encouraged by the roar of the spectators
there would be no gasp of unbelief
when an instant of error is displayed

No moment’s of anticipation
nor expectations.
There would be no witness
of the roller coaster of human emotion
displayed by the coaches.

No announcers to critique and describe
a competitors every move.

Only the athletes and their coaches
would witness individual triumph and defeat;
sorrow
disappointment
relief
camaraderie
sportsmanship
Their efforts would be in vain
if there’s no spectator notoriety.

And finally-
if it were not for the people in the crowd
there would be no need for athletes to compete;
and if there were no athletes
there would be no need for a crowd.

And if there were neither
there would be no moments
of standing in glory – in awe!
No rewards of gold,
silver or bronze being received.

No reason to look forward to seeing champions
from year to year;
no reason for a count down
the ringing of a bell
the passing of a torch
a parade of nations
for celebration
or inspiring future youth
no further progression.

So you see,
It’s the roller coaster of human emotion
the cheers,
silence
elation
noise
tensing,
highs and lows,
tears and the laughter;
that the thousands of spectators feel simultaneously!

Whether at home or in the audience
it’s all the spectators everywhere
being caught up in the moment,
at the same place in time
that captures the spirit of the Olympian Games!

The spirit of the people wouldn’t exist
without the athletes and the spectators
they are both needed for
the tradition, history and glory
of the moment’s to exist.

The Spirit of the people is captured in the heart of the Olympian Games!
