I love reading and decided to pick 10 books that I would like to start now that it’s Spring. Over the Winter I really hadn’t read too much so now I want to get back and finish well at least 10 books which I’ll probably add this to my Summer reading list too. It really doesn’t take me long to finish a good book I think that’s with a lot of people once you find that book you can finish it in less than 2 days. So here’s my list:
1. The Wolf Gift
I think this will be the book that tells us Anne Rice is back. I hope that she writes another vampire book soon with Lestat but this book seems good enough for me. A must on my list to read because I love her work! Probably going to buy this book for my Kindle Fire so I can get a copy right away (I can be impatient at times with waiting especially where I live mail is slow).
I’ve just recently bought this book and remember reading back in my Junior year of High School. It was a book that was so different than anything I’ve ever read before. It’s a fast read that has a very powerful message behind it and that’s why everyone should have it in it’s library.
3. The French Nation
D. W. Brogan
My mother bought this for me for my birthday and as a history buff especially about France I want to finish reading it. The book talks about the years in French history between, 1814 to 1940 which is something that I’ve never really brushed on. I like to read history books while reading fiction, mix it up.
4. The Bible
I’ve been reading the Bible for awhile and not too far from finishing it. By the end of April would like to have finish reading it and that would be my first time ever reading the whole thing.
5. Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy
John Le Carre
As a John Le Carre fan I haven’t read this book yet, I’ve read Smiley’s People and The Honorable Spy. Oddly enough at my local bookstore they didn’t have a copy of it so I wanted to read it that day, and bought a eBook copy. Read a little bit of the book but didn’t get nearly that far so now it’s on my list to finish. I’ve even bought the movie too and loved it!
6. On the Road
I love beatnik literature and just bought the “Portable Jack Kerouac” which has a some great passages from his books but if you want more you need to read all of his novels. I don’t even know why but I’ve never read the book yet and not much of Kerouac. I’ve read tons of Ginsberg poetry especially “Howl” and read Burroughs “Naked Lunch.” “On the Road” is the next book I’m buying at my local Book World since I don’t own it yet. I feel like everyone who loves the Beat Generation should read this.
7. The Duchess of Langeasis
Honore de Balzac
The film version of this book just amuses and enthralls me. I decided from there I should read this classic. I’ve got a free eBook copy but would one day buy a hardcover copy sooner or later. Balzac is an other I would like to read more of too.
8. Jar City
Another book that I’ve seen the film version and now want to read the book. Another thing it was my first Icelandic film I’ve ever seen. Anyway this book has been on my list to read for awhile. This is part of series too, so no doubt I’ll try and read all of the books that are out. Also I think it’s interesting to read some fiction from Iceland.
9. The Raymond Chandler Ombius
Bought this at my local St. Vinny’s and was so exicted. I’ve only read “The Big Sleep,” so was happy to see his other novels in here like “Lady in the Lake,” and Farewell, My Lovely.” These are the kind of mysteries I enjoy, hard-boiled crime.
10. The Best DVDs You’ve Never Seen, Just Missed or Almost Forgotten: A Guide for the Curious Film Lover
I love reading and buying film guides, film history books and other film related things. I think that films are more than just entertainment you can learn something from them. I’ve just bought this book yesterday from one of my favorite websites, Better World Books.
So those are 10 books that are on my list that are all must reads. I hope this gives you an idea to make your own reading list.
