I have watched all of the previous Underworld movies and i am a big fan so you can imagine i was excited when i heard that a 3rd one was coming out. Even more excited when i bought the movie at the store and popped it into my DVD player.
The Action and Special Effects: The Special Effects went above and beyond standard. Very realistic, so realistic that it felt you were standing right next to Selene in the movie. Don’t believe the back of the DVD case under the “R-rating” where it says gore, there is none. Though there is huge amount of blood and severing of heads the lack of gore went drastically and disappointingly down by leaps and bounds from the previous movies.
Other than that the action is pretty much incredible, i actually don’t think there is even one scene where there is no violence or action of some sort. But literally, that’s what the whole movie was, just violence and gore, which brings us to the storyline…
The Story Line: This is what made me want to just hurl in disappointment when i was done watching it. Like I said, i have watched the previous movies and besides the gore and action the storyline was the best part, right? In this movie there literally was NO storyline, none at all!
This young girl pops out of nowhere and is claimed to be the daughter of Selene. When that little piece of the movie was introduced my only thought was ” WT F?”. Where did this girl come from? When? How? Where? This is not explained at all because from what the story claims Selene and Michael have been in a gas chamber for however many long years( this is another thing it does not explain, it shoots a scene where Selene and Michael are underwater and then out of nowhere they are in a lab which is confusing and you kinda have to pick up the pieces for yourself and make up your own story for what happened).
So they didn’t exactly have the time to have a child together.
When I was done with the movie i had to come up with my own conclusion that they hired too many writers and they all added in there millions ideas without having one big main focus and then they forgot to link all the ideas together for the movie to actually make sense.
Random things pop up in this movie for no reason and are not explained in the slightest.
Length: I literally felt that as soon as i turned the movie on it ended. The movie is just over an hour. Not nearly enough time to explain all these crazy ideas that popped up out of nowhere.
Over All: It was a huge letdown. It made my day very disappointing…
