“My Life will never be the same!” I am currently volunteering for one year in a non-religious orphanage in Thailand with IHF “The International Humanity Foundation.” I retired two years ago and live on a low budget from my S.S. I started in Belize, Mexico and now Thailand. The World is pleading for volunteers to help!
There are many opportunities in Kenya helping to teach English or help at a medical center and many other environmental projects. Don’t worry if you don’t have the experience, the only requirement is “the will!”
My friends who are teaching English in Indonesia said they have become the student. However, seeing a child’s life change has been their real gift. The principal goal (besides love) is to educate the kids. If the kids are educated around the world only, then… the door opens to world peace.
In Thailand, there are many organizations starving for knowledge from the western world. They are begging for people to teach English. The only requirement is they speak… No English!
My friend Jerry is involved in an organization to “save the elephants” they are looking for people to help.
The Elephant Nature Park (ENP) is the elephant sanctuary in Mae Tang, just about an hour North of Chiang Mai. Set in a beautiful valley with, a river running through it. A perfect setting for the elephants and the best place for people to learn and interact. ENP is NOT an elephant camp. There are NO shows, NO rides, NO painting or other tricks. There are currently 35 elephants there.
Most were rescued from logging, street begging or other elephant camps. Some of these elephants are blind, some crippled. There are two babies who were born at the camp within the last three years. All of these elephants are loved, respected and well cared for by the staff and the volunteers.
The camp volunteers are an essential part of the ENP. Every week volunteer came from all over the world. These amazing young people pay for a working vacation. The price is usually less than they would spend on hotels, food and touring. The accommodations are good. The food is great, and the atmosphere is magical. Many of them return as often as possible.
Another organization looking for volunteers is “The New Life Foundation Thailand” I have friends who are staying there, and it has changed their life forever!
They are an international recovery community for people who are suffering because of addiction problems, stress, burnout, relationship issues or abuse. They are located in northern Thailand, near Chiang Rai.
Their mission is to cultivate a lifestyle that fosters inner growth and helps people to find meaning and purpose in life again.
So if you’re thinking about doing something, you always wanted to do or to cross off your bucket list. On the other hand if the thought ever crossed your mind “I would like to make a difference in the World.” Take the first step, check out these non-profit organizations. You can cause a change! I promise your life will never be the same! It could even turn it into a vacation with a “cause.”
