Mercedes-Benz Superdome Recently Upgraded for New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have called the Mercedes-Benz Superdome home since 1975. The stadium is also home to Tulane University’s football team. Fans attending a Saints’ game can take part in a variety of activities outside the stadium and can enjoy a variety of entertainment inside the Superdome. The stadium is the largest domed structure in the world. The aluminum panels recently replaced on the outside have champagne bronze color. The stadium will host the 2013 Super Bowl XLVII. Inside Champions Square, visitors can pay $10 to enter club XLIV (cash only). Game tickets are not needed to enter the club. The private indoor lounge area includes plush furnishings and a full bar. Admission includes one single premium cocktail. Additional food and beverages can be purchased inside with cash.
In addition, prior to each game young fans will enjoy visiting the Saints Experience on the Gate C Bridge of the Superdome. The area includes interactive inflatable games and a “Saints Trivia Game Show” for fans.
Kids will also enjoy watching for Gumbo the Saints’ dog mascot during the games. Visitors will also enjoy performances by the Saintsations, the team’s cheerleaders. Fans also enjoy cheering the team’s chant, “Who Dat?” to show support for the Saints. The term, “Who dat” is also sometimes used to describe a New Orleans Saints fan.
Fans wanting to buy all their Saints gear should stop at the team store located at the Gate B Plaza level. The New Orleans Saints Team Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday and during home games.
During the game, a favorite concession offering is Zatarain’s chicken and sausage jambalaya. Visitors also enjoy sample the crawfish meat pies. Finally, other local favorite offered at the Superdome are the alligator sausage and red beans and rice.
Finding a ticket for a Saints game is often hard for fans. Individual game tickets can only be purchased through the NFL Ticket Exchange. The ticket exchange can be accessed through the team’s website and prices for tickets generally start at over $100 each. Since 2006, tickets for the games have been sold out on a season-ticket basis.
