A single mom that’s struggling to survive in the world does not necessarily struggle when it comes to finances. Even if she has more than enough money to survive, she does not always have the help that she needs with child rearing and maintaining a home. Her happiness often ends up on the back burner. The wants and needs of a caring mom become second to that of her children. Everyone deserves to be happy, and to find true happiness as a single mom, it takes fortitude and the help and support of caring family and friends.
Enjoy Playing with the Kids
A mom does not have to be self absorbed to be truly happy, and she does not need a man in her life. Happiness can be found with her kids. Time spent together in active play can make a remarkable difference. Go outside and play hide and seek with the kids. Catch fireflies, and play games of Frisbee or basketball. A single mom can find happiness while playing like a child with her kids, and the children will treasure the memories for life.
As a single mom, I enjoyed playing basketball with my boys. We also played a lot of Frisbee. Playing with them brought immense happiness to my life. It brought back memories of how my dad and I played badminton and softball. It was easier to forget about my problems while playing with my kids, even if it was just for an hour or two. My kids were my source of happiness when otherwise feeling alone.
Maintain Contact with Like Minded Female Friends
A single mom cannot find happiness if she hides away behind closed doors. There were times that I wanted to pull all of the shades down and spend days on the sofa in my nightgown. Other times I did not want to even get out of bed, but I looked for like minded friends instead. A single mom can find happiness with other single moms. It is easy to dwell on the negative, but good friends can help prevent that from happening.
Take the initiative and search for true friends instead of feeling sorry for yourself. Happiness cannot be bought. True happiness must be sought. Learn who your real friends are, and maintain contact. In addition to friendship, you never know when you might need a helping hand.
Set Aside Personal Time
Everyone needs personal time to refresh and unwind. A single mom can find happiness in unexpected places. She might find it in a warm bubble bath or beneath the shade of a tree. Personal time is of the utmost importance, and everyone needs peace and quiet now and then, especially a single mom. Set a reasonable bedtime for the kids, and use that hour or two before bed to work on a relaxing and fulfilling project. Happiness cannot be purchased, and it does not appear by chance. It must be sought and shared with others to continue and grow.
