Times are hard. My father used to tell me stories about the good times – but I don’t know what good is anymore. When you’re living in cold and dreary Alaska, there’s not much good about it. It’s been almost fifty years since the mob took over. It was a slow process, but one that eventually took us all by surprise. It all started with Al Capone. He slowly began to take over Chicago; from Aldermen to the Mayor of Chicago. From the 1920s to the 1930s it was all about controlling the state of Illinois. Of course he did his business elsewhere, but his breeding ground was Chicago. That’s where he and other Chicago based mob groups were able to receive their bachelors degree. In the mid 1930s, the Mob had full control of Illinois. I’m not sure if Washington D.C. knew or they were just that stupid, but it happened.
Needless to say, Capone didn’t stop there. Now having control of Chicago, and every police officer, Al Capone turned his attention to the next big thing: New York. Trying to be diplomatic, he arrived in New York with childlike optimism. His simple-minded thinking was that the major New York families would welcome his ideas with open arms. Being greedy crooked sons of bitches that they were, they graciously declined. Big mistake. After the war ended, and all the local Chicago troops came home, Capone’s crew took to the streets of New York. From Chicago cops to the local street gangs, they took to the streets with a vengeance. The five bureaus were a war-zone. New York was soon overtaken.
With the power that these people wielded, they controlled everything in their rightful cities. My father once told me that they “hoped the government would step in and send help” — but that never happened. With their natural ability to persuade local politicians and cops, it was a matter of time before they took over the entire east coast and soon all of the United States. The United State of America was in shambles. They quietly made an impact in the lives of every American with the simple use of intimidation and rhetoric.
I was once told that this naïve man wanted to get to the moon before the Russians. Because the mob controlled the Senate, they didn’t want to pass a billion dollar bill allowing astronauts to go drive across the country much less the moon. The Soviets got there first.
During the November election of 1960, the first mob controlled president was put into office. The Constitution was soon amended and the president was able stay in office for however long they wanted. By the mid 1960s, the entire United States was bowing down to the mob. Al Capone died and his statue replaced Abraham Lincoln’s. Now having complete control of the states, they turned their evil gaze to Europe. War was about to begin.
