According to some reports, Lifetime is producing a second All Star season of “Project Runway.” While no official announcement has been made regarding a premiere date or even the cast, the show will likely air sometime in 2013, with model Carolyn Murphy replacing Angela Lindvall as the host.
The biggest question on every fan’s mind is which designers will agree to come back. In a past article published on Yahoo! TV before the first All Star season aired, the first round of the All Stars programming took a bit of a beating because of the lack of participation from several of the most popular former designers.
Among those names mentioned as unfortunate oversights were Season 2 designers (and notable frenemies) Santino Rice and Nick Verreos, Season 1 finalist Kara Saun, Season 3’s Malan Breton (memorable for his kooky laugh and unique accent), and Season 7’s Emilio Sosa (the first contestant in the show’s history to win four consecutive challenges).
It would be great to see these designers return for an All-Star season, if their schedules will allow for it. However, there are also a number of other designers that would glue viewers to the screen if they returned.
Kara Saun would be great to see, but scheming co-finalist Wendy Pepper would also be great fun. Is she still manipulative and mean-spirited, or has she mellowed in the eight years since the show’s first season? Fans want to know!
An interesting if unexpected choice would be Daniel Franco, who appeared in both Season 1 and Season 2. Though if fans had to pick between Daniel Franco or Season 2 co-star Daniel Vosovic, it’s clear that Vosovic would bring a higher level of competition to the show.
Two contestants from Season 3 that fans would love to see return are redheaded Laura Bennett (who recently appeared as a client on Season 10) and beautiful blond Alison Kelly. Both have strong points of view, and are rare in the ranks of female “Project Runway” cast members because they are mature and drama-free.
Another female face that would be welcome is Ivy Higa from Season 8. While she definitely has a tendency to bring the drama, she is still a fierce competitor.
A couple of names from Season 9 that might round out the list of contestants are Viktor Luna and Joshua McKinley. Josh clearly has an axe to grind, as he was very vocal about how he felt when Anya won his season. Viktor does great tailoring, while still having a wonderful TV-friendly personality.
