Work It: Shorts You Can Wear to the Office

by pop tug

Shorts are clearly a summertime staple. If you have ever wished you could just wear a pair to work when the temperature soars, you may be in luck. Beat the heat nine to five with the following ideas. Discover how you can incorporate a cool trend on the hottest days.

Try a short suit
Suit shorts like this sleek grey combo from Venus is an easy way to hold onto summer when you are stuck indoors. Wear with a silky top with a high-neck and closed toe shoes to keep the style modest and office appropriate.

Create your own short suit
If you cannot find a matching set; simply combine high-waist tailored shorts with a fitted blazer. A pair of navy blue striped shorts and a navy blue blazer creates a fresh summer look especially when you add a dose of pure white or solid red accessories. Play with color-blocking to build a look that is uniquely your own while staying fashionably on-track and professional. Stick with neutrals or primary hues for a traditional setting; choose pastel, metallics, or neon colors for a more eclectic, high-fashion environment.

Bermuda shorts are not just for the weekend
A long pair of Bermuda shorts look work-appropriate when combined with a lightweight sweater. Place a belt over the sweater for a more polished look. Conservative jewelry and pointy toe shoes complete the look. Dockers Truly Slimming Sure Fit Bermuda Shorts also work well with a bow blouse and low-heeled pumps. The effect is much the same as a pencil skirt with more freedom of movement.

Embrace the jacket
The right jacket can make or break a professional outfit. This High Structured Ivory Short Sleeved Jacket is the perfect addition to your work wardrobe. The lightweight cotton/polyester provides a little protection from air-conditioned cubicles while pulling an outfit together that will not look out of place on your commute.

Romper style for the office?
Dress Gallery Short Pant Overalls are a one-piece number that can work for the office with the right layering pieces. As mentioned above, slipping a structured jacket over the romper can pull the look together, as can a belted sweater. A crisp white button-down and vest can also be used over a one-piece short set to camouflage the romper style.
