I had it made before I became a Tours desk supervisor. Sitting in a spacious air conditioned office with the most modern decor, interacting with men and women in high places within the city, surrounded by opportunities I could utilize at the click of my fingers. Everything was in line, great friends, beautiful apartment, fancy clothes and young age. I deserved it because I had prayed for it and God had blessed me. The only problem was that I had not quite realized that life does not always turn out the way we plan and work towards. If there is one thing that human beings need to accept its that one may have planned for their life in a certain way and worked hard to achieve their plans, yes, WORKED HARD but for some reason things turn out the opposite. My cushioned and comfortable life took an unexpected turn when my boss was re assigned elsewhere and I had to be re aligned. I suffered the ridicule from peers & subordinates, I struggled to catch on and keep up with new systems and my husband had to wake me up every morning and make me to go to work. I was stuck and felt I could not turn to anyone for help and relief.
I must say though that the one thing that carried me from day to day was prayer. I prayed everyday for God to help me to be strong and do my work the right way even when I did not feel like it. I prayed for new opportunities and I prayed for God to help me to somehow exercise that inherent gift I had, the eye for beauty and the ability to teach.
The opportunities came in two different ways. I got the idea to speak to the General Manager of the hotel I worked in about conducting a Grooming, Deportment and life skills training for the hotel staff. He was keen on the idea seeing as I had put my module together. I conducted the training a week later. The response was overwhelming from the staff and I have since conducted a number of similar trainings.
Not too long after that, a new General Manager came on board. He was one of those creative people who shared the same love for beauty as I did. He saw the potential within me and promoted me to my current position.
Everyday I continue to grow and I have met other challenges. Most importantly I have come to realize that life does not turn out the way in which we plan for it. We may work hard towards our vision and goals and things turn out another way. We may also work very hard and realize very little from our efforts. Friends, be still and look inside you for the answers because God still speaks but to a still heart. A heart that will seek for him earnestly he will not ignore. He will tell you which way you must go. This is just one of the many events in my life that I would like to share with the world. My purpose is to encourage other people through my personal experiences as I am convicted to do so. Welcome to my world.
