One of the most popular and enjoyed musicals of all time is coming to Brick Township this August. Annie opens on stage at Brick Township High School on August 3, 2012 for two weekends of performances. The family-friendly musical follows the story of little orphan Annie and her orphanage friends as they deal with everyday living while they try to help Annie find her long lost parents. From the mean Miss Hannigan to the wealthy Oliver Warbucks, the performance is true to the original musical on Broadway.
The heart warming show is brought to life with the talented cast from throughout central New Jersey. Audiences will delight in hearing tales of the orphans “Hard Knock Life” and Annie’s dreams of a better life “Tomorrow” in some of these famous showtime tunes. Young and old audiences alike will be left humming and singing along as they leave the theatre. Cast members include nine-year old Chloe Hoban from Middletown playing the lead of Annie. Joining her on stage as the main orphans are Sydney Burton (July), Carleigh Chirico (Duffy), AnnieRose DiMurro (Pepper), Megan Brown (Tessie), Summer Gigerian (Kate), and adorable Ella Zarilli (as Molly). Lead roles are played by Sean Diveny (Oliver Warbucks), Kaila McCourt (Miss Hannigan), Ryan Gedrich (Rooster),Christy Box (Grace Farrell), Marissa Paollella (Lily St. Regis), and Tim Ruppenthal (as Drake). Many other talented actors round out the cast in various roles.
The show is being produced by Brick Children’s Community Theatre (BCCT) which is a non-profit, community theater group dedicated to the children of Ocean and Monmouth counties. Established in 1992, the BCCT has spawned great reviews with much interest and a dedicated following from the local community. BCCT was voted “Best Community Theatre in Ocean County” Reader’s Choice Award by The Asbury Park Press in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
The current cast of Annie comes with many years of experience, with hundreds of performances under their collective belts, including national tours and cast members enrolled at the Performing Arts Academy in Lakehurst, NJ. Many cast members have performed in lead roles throughout the state including several past BCCT productions.
Performances of Annie will be held on August 3, 4, 5, 10, & 11 at Brick Township High School on Chambers Bridge Road. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays (August 3, 4, 10 & 11) at 7:30 PM and Sunday August 5th at 3:00 PM which will feature a sign language interpreted performance.
