Is it a sign of a coming zombie apocalypse? Who knows but the fact is that attention and Internet rumblings about real “live” zombies is understandable following a bizarre attack in Florida this week. According to The Miami Herald, a naked man was seen literally eating the face off of another naked man. When police ordered him to stop, he reportedly growled at them and continued chewing.
He was shot several times before he was finally killed, but the similarities to a zombie attack was not lost on the public. Discussions of zombie virus outbreaks have swept the web.
Attacked and Bitten by Small Mob of Women
Strange behaviors have been making headlines recently but it wasn’t until the naked face-chewer in Miami that whispers about zombies made the rounds. Similar, though not as horrific, stories have been in the news recently, including an attack in Maryland.
According to The Baltimore Sun, a woman was bitten and cut in an unprovoked attack by six other women. The victim did not know her attackers and she was attacked from behind.
Throwing Intestines at the Cops
Of course, if you thought the zombie face-eater in Miami was bizarre, how about an even more disgusting story of zombie-like behavior out of Hackensack, New Jersey?
According to NBC New York, police officers were called to a Hackensack apartment after receiving reports of a man barricading himself inside. Upon arrival, the cops kicked in the door of the apartment and found a 43-year-old man in the corner with a knife.
After being ordered to drop the knife, the man proceeded to stab himself and cut himself in the abdomen, the legs and the neck. After refusing to stop and continuing to show aggression to police officers, the cops hit him with pepper spray but it had no effect and instead, the man’s behavior took a weirder, darker turn.
The man then cut off pieces of his own skin and his intestines and threw them at the cops.
He was taken into custody and hospitalized in critical condition and police stated that his behavior may have been attributed to drug use or mental illness.
Is This the Zombie Apocalypse Starting?
After reading such stories, it isn’t difficult to understand why many would make the connection between such bizarre behaviors and a potential zombie outbreak. In zombie movies, the zombie viruses usually occur due to biological warfare or experimentation.
According to a CBS report, though, drugs may be to blame for the “causeway cannibal” in Miami and in many other cases of such horrific behaviors. CBS reported that Rudy Eugene — the assailant killed in the Miami attack — may have been under the influence of a street drug called bath salts or “the new LSD.”
Whatever the cause behind such horrible attacks, the chatter about zombies and a coming zombie apocalypse is sure to stick around. For your own safety, don’t do drugs and have your own zombie preparedness plan in place — just in case.
